A Free Productivity Webinar for You - Live!

On September 23rd, I'm teaching a free training called My 6 Productivity Tips to Clear the Clutter in Your Head and Be More Present. I will teach the top strategies I use to keep my work and life organized and calm.

And, it's completely free!

I really want you to come because you’re going to walk away with tips you can use immediately. Some of the tips address:

  • working with your natural energy cycles

  • documenting the tasks you repeat every year so you can stop reinventing the wheel

  • one tip in particular that I still lean on more than any other!

And, I really want you to come to it live even though you can register and get the recording sent to your inbox.

It’s worth repeating: I really want you to come to the free training live.

And if you can't make it, no worries, register anyway and I'll send you the recording. I'd just love to have you there in person if you can.

When you spend an hour with me on September 23rd, you will learn from a person. While I realize all of our brains operate in unique ways, learning from a person allows you to absorb information differently.

Recently, I was working on this webinar and was totally stuck on the operations part of presenting in Canva live and with my notes. I used AI to ask carefully constructed questions to get the answers I needed. And not until I had already wasted a fair amount of time did I ask someone I knew who could solve my issue. And she did – thanks, Sam Fine of Samantha Fine Digital

When Sam showed me, it took five minutes and was so clear. Because she’s a human!

In my webinar, I’ll be teaching live and offering that human connection we all seek, and often need.

Sometimes you just really need to learn from a person, especially when she’s offering you some of her most powerful tips for free. Come to the webinar live! Register here if you haven’t already.

FREE TIME WORTH TALKING ABOUT

Buying Back Time, Season Four Memories & Finding Your People

Turning Pages: Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell

On a recommendation from a friend in the Dear FoundHer Forum community, I learned “The Buyback Principle.” Essentially, the author says not to hire to grow your business but to buy back your time. He offers practical strategies for entrepreneurs to reclaim personal and professional time and avoid burnout. This philosophy resonates so loudly with me and is what I teach my clients. Sometimes one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves in our efforts to protect our time (and energy!) is: What are the things that only you can do, and what can you delegate?

On the Screen: Will & Grace, a sitcom on Hulu

For the past two years, my daughter and I have slowly been watching Will & Grace together, from the beginning. Before she recently went back to college for her second year, we finished season four. I’ve shared before that I worked on the show for three seasons in my early career in television production. Whenever we watch, I pause it once in a while to tell her little stories about my experience there. I tell her how nice and low-maintenance Matt Damon was, and I point out things on the set like writers and set dressers who made appearances. I can even identify some of the writers’ laughs. It’s so much fun to watch with her and can’t wait until she’s home again so we can watch more!

In My Ears: College Rankings Don't Predict Where You'll Belong (Alexis White), Dear Nina, Conversations About Friendship

Having been through the college-application process once, I have some experience to share. Keep an open mind. I thought my daughter was California-bound until she was well into the process. And like Nina and Alexis discuss in this podcast, the college search puts a lot of pressure on families to find the “best” school. But the highest-ranked school is not necessarily the place where a particular student will be happiest, most successful, or most likely to find their people. I listen to a lot of podcasts and also value my (and your) time fiercely, and this one is a must listen for every high school parent. I highly suggest making the time and adding this to your playlist soon.

WHAT I’M THINKING ABOUT

Sometimes Things Can Be Harder and Easier

Last year at this time, I was coming off so many new beginnings. I had a freshman in high school and a freshman in college. The move into a dorm room took so much planning.

All of that planning paid off, no surprise, as the move in and move out were not quite effortless, but mostly stressless.

So now I’m coming off the beginning of both their sophomore years and for some reason, after this year’s move-in, it emotionally felt harder, but it didn’t last as long as it did last year. You just never know how you’re going to react to these transitions, and this year inspired many bigger feelings. It’s been harder on me.

And it’s easier, too!

Dropping off my daughter for sophomore year at college was a repeatable process. This is where so many of my planning strategies come into play. I documented everything we did the first time, I managed it all with my College Workflow, and we learned from the experience to adjust to-dos and timing so that they would work even more smoothly the second time.

We planned so much the first time that we could just adapt it all to the next space.

And although they’re not living together this year, I have to take this chance to include these photos here because freshman year gifted my daughter and my best friend’s daughter something I only dreamed of for them: a beautiful friendship mirroring the one I was so lucky to find when I was in college.

My college best friend stated it perfectly:

“How it started. How it’s going.

When your person gives birth to your daughter's person. Priceless.

Freshman year is in the books. On, Wisconsin!”
